Contacting Prospective Employer

Q: I had an interview several days agp. How long should I wait to follow up? I already sent a thank you note. - Mercedes

A: First of all, congratulations on sending that thank you so promptly. You'd be amazed by how many interviewees do not send thank yous to the hiring manager.

I usually give the company ten days to two weeks after the letter goes in. Then I make a friendly call telling them I just wondered where they are in the hiring process and see what information I can get. If they haven't made their choice, give them another couple of weeks before calling again. You want them to know you are interested without becoming a pest. Good luck!
