Résumé length

Q: I've been told a résumé should never exceed two pages. Is this true?

A: In my opinion this is a false statement.

That does not mean that a one or two page résumé cannot be good. It means that your main focus should not be on length but content, style, and effective writing.

My clients us a three page format that stretches to four pages if they have had lengthy careers. Be sure your résumé gives the hiring manager all of the required skills for the position AND tells the reader that you are excellent at what you do.

Do it in two pages or less if you can, but do not be afraid to go longer as long as the résumé is clear, concise, and effective. Remember, what works - works!
