Closet Organization

Question: What do you do if you only have two closet in your house. I have no place to store any thing.
Misty

Answer: Closet space is indeed a premium in most homes and apartments, but there are ways to work around that for hidden storage. Try to go vertical in your closets and maximize what space you DO have with: over the door racks, hooks, and so forth. Invest in some sturdy but inexpensive plastic tubs for under your bed, and be sure to label them. Create centers or zones under your bed for: outgrown clothing, out of season clothes, crafts, giftwrap, gifts (unless you have children who explore a lot before birthdays and holidays), and so forth.

Consider organizing your closets as if you lived in a motor home. Add racks, door mounted racks, and holders that affix to a shelf for holding: paper plates, coffee filters, spices, lids, and doubling storage space for your plates. Don't forget hanging hooks for: caps and belts, coffee cups, and even bananas! Visit the dollar store or your favorite organizing department for inexpensive but strong pegged racks for the bedroom (scarves, scrunchies, and jewelry), mudroom or entry way (caps, coats, and scarves), and bathroom (towels and robes).

It's not what you've got but how you use it! Be creative with your organizing and you'll be amazed at the hidden spaces you'll discover.

Good luck,
Debbie Williams
