Blueberry Pie Muffins

Q: Dear Nana,
My grandkids (ages 5 and 8) are spending the weekend with us while their parents are out of town. When they wake up in the morning, they’re going to insist we take them to Einstein’s for bagels. I’d really like to just relax at home with them on Saturday morning without seeming like a killjoy. Can you think of something to serve that rivals a local bakery?
Thanks,
Stubborn in Stuart, FL

A: Dear Stubborn,
First, let me applaud you for refusing to give in to the demands of a fast-paced world that apparently starts when you’re five! Sheesh—no time for breakfast, so it’s a mad dash to a franchise? Not on my watch!

I’ve provided a link to a most cherished recipe, my Blueberry Pie Muffins, that will let you, grandpa, and the grandkids take the time to smell…well, the blueberries! This is a favorite breakfast item of mine that I’ve always served to out-of-town guests. The smell will get them up and out of bed. Before you pop ’em into your mouth, these muffins provide a visual that’ll have everyone drooling. Einstein’s Shmeinsteins!

Write me and let me know if everybody loved them.
