Tie-Dye Cake

Q: Dear Nana,
My grandson is turning 4. His parents already gave him a great party at a local bounce house with a Batman-theme birthday cake and lots of little friends. That party took place a good week before his actual birthday. He’s coming over to spend the weekend with grandpa and me – and his real birthday transpires on Sunday. I want to make a fun little cake. Any suggestions?
Yours Truly,

A: Dear Stickler,
I applaud you for being so traditional. How wonderful that your grandson will be with you on his birthday! As it so happens, I have a wonderful cake recipe that the whole family will get a kick out of; I do hope his parents will stick around and try a bite. It’s a festive tie-dye cake that’s filled with ooey gooey cream cheese, scrumptious vanilla flavors, and a rainbow’s worth of food gel coloring. Let your grandson be choosy about which colors he wants to use! When the time comes to apply the frosting, he can help decorate with sprinkles. Enjoy!
